The Naming of Stanhope Township plus Toronto's 1918 Anti-Greek Riot

Show notes

This week Kate talks about the naming of Stanhope in the 1800's. Today Stanhope is part of the Township of Algonquin Highlands within Haliburton County. Plus, Paul talks about Toronto's anti-Greek riot in 1918 that led to the community's businesses largely leaving the Yonge and Carlton Streets area and re-settling further east on.......the Danforth. Haliburton County is in cottage country about 2 1/2 hours north of Toronto. Kate Butler is the Director of the Haliburton Highlands Museum and Paul Vorvis is the host of the Your Haliburton Morning show from 7-9 Friday mornings on Canoe FM 100.9 You can reach us with feedback or suggestions for topics at timewarp@canoefm.com
