Historic Reid House in Haliburton Village plus Bride Ships to 1860's British Columbia

Show notes

This week, Kate talks about the 1882 Reid House in Haliburton Village. The house was the first home for the Haliburton Highlands Museum. It was moved to the Glebe Park and can still be found there as part of the Museum grounds. Plus, Paul talks about the "Bride" ships that brought women to the British colonies on Canada's west coast in the 1860's. They were meant help to bring some balance to the population and to help keep the colonies British - rather than becoming American. Kate Butler is the Director of the Haliburton Highlands Museum. Paul Vorvis is the host of the Your Haliburton Morning Show 7 - 9 a.m. Fridays on Canoe FM 100.9 and streaming on your devices. Haliburton County is in cottage country about 2 1/2 hours north of Toronto. You can contact us at timewarp@canoefm.com
