Arthur Bachelor achieved so much in early Haliburton County, then died tragically. The HMCS Esquimalt was the last Canadian naval ship sunk in WW2.
This week, Kate talks about Arthur Bachelor and his legacy in early 1900's Haliburton. Arthur was a classic mover and shaker who was into EVERYTHING and contributed so much to the community - and died too young under tragic circumstances. Plus, Paul talks about the minesweeper HMCS Esquimalt, its fateful meeting with the German submarine the U-190, and how the two ships came to rest together forever on the ocean floor. The HMCS Esquimalt was the last Canadian warship sunk in WW2 - roughly 3 weeks before the war ended.
