Dance Halls in 1930/40's Haliburton County plus Catharine Parr Traill

Show notes

This week Kate talks about dance halls in 1930/40's Haliburton County. In particular the Golden Slipper and the institution the Slipper became in the community. (Kate is apppealing for anyone with pictures/stories/anecdotes about the Golden Slipper to contact her). Plus, Paul talks about the fascinating story of Catharine Parr Traill throughout the 1800's. Catharine was a successful writer of children's books and was an amateur naturalist/botanist - her books are still used as sources of information today by researchers studying life in Ontario 150 years ago. Kate Butler is the Director of the Haliburton Highlands Museum. Paul Vorvis is the host of the Your Haliburton Morning Show 7 - 9 a.m. Fridays on Canoe FM 100.9 and streaming on your devices. Haliburton County is in cottage country about 2 1/2 hours north of Toronto. You can contact us at timewarp@canoefm.com
