Canadian Huron in early Haliburton County plus Battle of the Hat Pins

A brief story of Bernard Naraseau, an early indigenous Canadian in Haliburton County plus 1916's Battle of the Hat Pins for Francophone education in Ontario

Show notes

This week, Kate talks about Bernard Naraseau - a Huron from the Montreal area - who settled in Haliburton County and played a significant (although largely unacknowleged) role in the early development of Haliburton County. Plus Paul talks about an attempt to assimilate Ontario's Francophone minority through changes to the educational system that was overcome by a grass roots resistance and the 'Battle of the Hat Pins'.
