Agnes Jamieson plus Kamagata Maru

Agnes Jamieson plus Kamagata Maru

Doctor Agnes Jamieson - Haliburton County's mid-1900's medical doctor and respected artist. Plus, the Kamagata Maru - a ship full of would be immigrants to Canada from India who were turned away from Vancouver's port just before WW1.

Show notes

This week, Kate talks about Agnes Jamieson a rare (at the time) female medical doctor who worked in Haliburton County in the mid-1900's - and who was an accomplished artist who lent her name to an art gallery in Minden. Plus, Paul talks about the Kamagata Maru and the sad saga of her 376 optimistic passengers - would be immigrants to Canada from India who were not allowed to disembark in Vancouver and were sent home to a tragic fate.
