A Full Week Away to Attend 2-day Council Meetings plus the Wreck of the HMS Nancy

In the early 1900's it could take Township Mayors a full week of travel to attend 2 days of County Council. Plus the wreck of the HMS Nancy during the War of 1812.

Show notes

This week, Kate talks about the difficulties that the Reeves (mayors) of the various Townships in Haliburton County would have in getting to County Council meetings in the early 1900's. A full week there and back to attend 2 days of council meetings, including picking up more Reeves on the way and changing teams of horses. All for a low paying, part time job. Talk about dedication! Plus, Paul talks about the struggles between the British and the Americans for control of the Great Lakes during the War of 1812, and the shipwreck of the HMS Nancy as a result.
